Commemorative event at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus to mark the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory

On May 8, 2025 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus hosted an event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. 

The highlight was the opening of the military themes exhibition of art works from the funds of the National Center of Modern Arts of the Republic of Belarus. 

The event was attended by the leadership and staff of the Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, veterans of the diplomatic service, more than 40 heads of diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations accredited in our country, and other distinguished guests. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Ryzhenkov, congratulated the guests with the great holiday and draw attention to the call of the President of Belarus to think jointly on «what must we do today to really take the world away from the edge of the abyss, where it is today». 

The Minister payed attention to the special role of diplomats in maintaining peace, noted unacceptability of the attempts to destroy historical memory in a number of states, emphasized the special role of art in preserving this memory: «Art, which is a link to those events, provides the basis for awakening the brightest, most peaceful initiatives and aspirations in all of us».

The Director of the National Center for Contemporary Arts, famous artist, Sergey Kryshtapovich, also made a welcoming speech. 

A musical program with performance was presented by students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. 

During the event, the guests could enjoy the soldier's porridge from the military field kitchen.
